奥斯卡演员蒂尔达·斯文顿(Tilda Swinton)和巴黎时尚博物馆馆长奥利维尔·塞拉德Olivier Saillard曾连续三年在巴黎做了三场行为艺术表演——主题是人与服装之间的关系。《不可思议的衣橱》是为弥补错过这三场精彩表演的读者的遗憾而出版的。 英文原版是分成了3本,每本100页,中文版将其合成了1本,开本和页码基本没有变化。其中一本(一个章节),原名是CloakroomVestiaireobligatoire。Cloakroom和Vestiaire这两个词一个是英文一个是法文,都是衣帽间的意思。而obligatoire是一个法语,有强制强迫的意思。书名前两个此首字母都是大写,第三个词确是首字母小写。这个外文书名有点文字游戏的味道——从书名就可以看出它有行为艺术的味道——这些,用中文无法翻译,故只能在内容简介中与大家分享。中文翻译成“衣帽间”,名字没有问题,但缺少了一点行为艺术的调调。我们曾想过,要不要叫“衣物存放处”用不同的颜色或字体标明存放这个动作,但这样又显得刻意,而且中文里的“衣物存放处”总会让人不禁联想到学校体育课或健身房的更衣室……
